Dubai: The Public Transport Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), will launch three new public bus routes in Dubai on December 1, in a bid to broaden bus routes network to cover various residential, commercial and entertainment areas in the emirate.
The new routes will also encourage the public to use them as part of efforts intended to boost ridership of mass transit systems.
Eisa Al Hashimi, Acting Director of Planning and Business Development, Public Transport Agency, said: “The launch of three new bus routes reflects the agency’s keenness to broaden the reach of public transport network to cover all parts over the emirate, as well as encouraging the public to use public buses as a key means of transport. Such a drive is in line with RTA’s strategic goals since buses contribute substantially to providing comfortable and enjoyable transit experience, and avoiding hassles of traffic congestion in some areas.”
“The first of these new routes is Route (15), which will serve Al Khail Gate Stations passing through Hudaybiya, Satwa and Ghubaiba Bus Stations. Thus it will pass along Al Fahidi Metro Station, Satwa Mosque and Jumeirah Post Office and down to Safa Municipal Centre, Emirates Gas Factory and finishing with Al Quoz and Al Khail Gate. The route, he noted, will offer service from Saturday to Thursday starting from 6am up to 10.20pm. On Friday, the service starts at 6.30am and continues to 11pm.”
“The second is Route (F18) which starts from Oud Metha Metro Station, passes along Oud Metha 11 and 12 Streets, American Hospital in Dubai and down to Lamcy Plaza, and will offer service from Saturday to Friday starting from 6am to 11pm,” detailed Al Hashimi.
“The third is Route (F42), which serves Nakheel Harbour Metro Station and Discovery Gardens 1 to 12. The service will run from Saturday to Thursday from 7am to 9pm,” he elaborated.
“The Public Transport Agency continuously seeks to broaden the existing bus routes network and launch new routes in order to serve bus riders from various community segments, given that such new routes will substantially contribute to realising the objectives set by the RTA in linking mass transit modes and encouraging the public to use them in line with its vision of providing ‘Safe and smooth transport for all’,” concluded Al Hashimi.
