Dubai: Trying to decide what to be this Halloween? Well the good news is 2010 has a plethora of pop icons to choose from.
Where 2008's Halloween costumes were heavily dominated by political figures such as Sarah Palin and Barack Obama, 2010 will see a much lighter array.
This year's top costume, according to online buzz, will be Lady Gaga's notorious meat dress that she donned at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.
If the idea of wearing raw meat makes you queasy, then you can be an Italian-American cast member of Jersey Shore. Jersey Shore characters — Snookie, Pauly D and "The Situation" — will be a hot ticket. Snooki wannabes will sport orange tan makeup, a skintight leopard dress and the quintessential pouf wig, while men can become DJ Pauly D with a spiky wig, or "The Situation" with a muscle tank and fake set of abs.
Jersey Shore parties
"MTV's Jersey Shore has been hot ever since the beginning of the year when people started throwing Jersey Shore parties," said Dorice Dionne, senior vice-president of merchandising for iParty.
"I can't tell you how many fake tattoos we've already sold."
Another popular show has been Showtime's series Dexter, following the story of a Miami cop who moonlights as a serial killer. And of course, you have all the wonderfully gruesome vampires of HBO's hit series True Blood to choose from as well. "We expect 2010 to be the year of the costume," said National Retail Foundation spokeswoman Kathy Grannis.
