Dubai: A dizzying variety of Eid attractions are taking place in Dubai this weekend. The events include 24-hr shopping, fireworks, stage shows, food deals and fun fairs. Here are some choices for holidaymakers planning to enjoy the festive season:
1. Eid fun fair
There will be fun for the little ones with a rides and games fair in Zabeel Park, between Gates 2 and 3, from 10am-10pm. Tickets are priced at Dh5 per child and Dh10 per adult.
2. Al Seef street fireworks
Enjoy the festive mood with firework displays over the creekside. While fireworks begin at 9pm, other attractions such as food and shopping stalls will be held from 6pm to midnight.
3. Global Village
Tour the mega shopping and entertainment outdoor fair with extended Eid timings. Doors at the country-themed pavilions will be open from 4pm to 2am on Thursday and Friday. Entry is Dh10 per person, while children aged three and below enter for free.
4. Bubbles and balloons fiesta
Explore a wonderland of balloons and bubbles at Dubai Marina Mall. They also have plans to create the “world’s biggest” balloon model of an airplane from 4,000 balloons. Activities will last from noon to 8pm.
5. Harlem Globetrotters
Catch the famous US basketball phenomenon as the team display their acrobatic moves and basketball handling skills. See them perform at Dubai Tennis Stadium on Thursday, 7pm, and on Friday, 2pm and 7pm. Tickets start at Dh75.
6. Dubai Water Bash Day
Throw water balloons at thousands of revellers expected at Zabeel on Saturday. Pick a side — yellow or blue — and splash about for three minutes, starting at 2.30pm. To register, visit www.facebook.com/dxbevents. “Only early registration will give participants the opportunity to reserve their space for free in this unique event and will exempt them from any park entry fees,” according to organisers.
7. At the Top
See Dubai at night or day like never before, as the At the Top observatory in the world’s tallest tower, Burj Khalifa, opens round the clock for Eid on weekends till November 3. Tickets are offered at a discounted price of Dh85 per adult and Dh65 per child.
8. Open 24-hours
Play round the clock in arcades under the Magic Planet and Playnation brands in city malls on the weekends until November 3. Watch movies anytime day or night in Vox Cinemas in Deira City Centre, Mall of the Emirates and Mirdif City Centre.
9. Hala Turk Live
Hear Bahraini child sensation Hala Turk and Kuwaiti artist Bashar Al Shatti perform on stage at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre (Ductac) at Mall of the Emirates. Tickets for the twice-daily shows (6pm and 9pm from Friday to Monday) cost between Dh100 and Dh1,000.
10. Eidyat Dubai
Win Dh100,000 in prize money during the Eid shopping promotion until November 2. Spend Dh200 in participating malls to avail a chance to win. A total of Dh1 million will be awarded among 10 winners. The participating malls are: Al Bustan Centre, Al Ghurair City, Arabian Centre, Burjuman Centre, Ibn Battuta Mall, Lamcy Plaza, Oasis Centre, Palm Strip, Reef Mall, Sunset Mall, Twin Tower and Wafi.
