Abu Dhabi: Etisalat has announced a rate reduction on calls to Haiti from Dh4.09 to Dh0.99. The reduction applies to calls made to both mobile and landline numbers round the clock.

The rate of text messages has also been cut to Dh0.30 to enable Etisalat subscribers to communicate with their families and friends in Haiti after the devastating earthquake that hit the country last week.

Khalifa Al Shamsi, Deputy CEO of Marketing, said the initiative aims to enable Haitians in the UAE and others who have family members or friends in Haiti to call their relatives and friends. It also makes it easier to facilitate donations and the delivery of aid.

Al Shamsi pointed out that there are hundreds of Arabs who work with the peace-keeping forces in Haiti.
