Gulf News reader Prayank Sharma says large commercial vehicles, buses and pick-up trucks park in the residential area of Al Muteena, despite notice boards prohibiting them from doing so. Image Credit: Prayank Sharma, Gulf News reader

This [community report] is about an area called Al Muteena in Deira, Dubai.

There's a big notice board [there], which states that no heavy or commercial vehicles are allowed to park in the area, but we still see many such vehicles flouting the regulations.

Buses and pick-up trucks park behind a popular hotel in the area. When their engines are on, the smell of diesel is so strong, it seeps into the windows of our homes, which are located right behind them.

It's so harmful to our health, to constantly inhale this gas.

There are also a lot of vans and other small commercial vehicles parked in the neighbourhood. This makes the situation difficult for residents who are looking for parking spots in front of their houses.

Last but not least, the road in the same area is on a slope and motorists drive at a very high speed. There are no speedbreakers and it's very dangerous for pedestrians.

If [a minimum of] two speed breakers could be installed in the area, then accidents could be averted.

I urge the concerned authorities to do the needful.
