Dubai: Tanmia, the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority, will hold a career fair tomorrow to help Emiratis find jobs in the retail sector.
The fair will be held at the Dubai Women's College under the patronage of Dr Ali Bin Abdullah Al Ka'abi, Minister of Labour and Chairman of Tanmia's Board of Trustees. The theme of the fair is "Your Future in the Retail Sector".
During the event, Emirati job seekers will be informed about various employment opportunities available in the retail sector, which is experiencing record growth.
Recent statistics reveal that the country's shopping mall growth will increase by 190 per cent by 2010. During this period, retail spending is expected to account for 25 per cent of the UAE's gross domestic product.
Ahmad Al Ahmadi, Manager of the Tanmia Dubai Office, said, "UAE nationals are proving their potential in various sectors, and through this Open Day we aim to boost their chances of finding suitable openings in the country's retail sector.
"From a Middle East retail industry perspective, the UAE is seen as one of the most strategically important markets, enjoying consistent growth year after year.
"This scenario has opened up many job openings in the retail sector over the years, which we want to exploit through this Open Day."
Over 30 leading companies in the retail sector participating in the Open Day will have an opportunity to showcase current job openings, interact with job applicants on a one-to-one basis and shortlist the most suitable candidates for recruitment.
The Open Day will be held from 10am to 4pm at the College in Al Gusais.
