Programme until 2013 ready for federal sector
Dubai: Emiratisation is a the forefront of the priority list for the UAE leadership, its cabinet and the Federal Authority for Human Resources (FAHR), said Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Quttami, Minister of Education, who is also the FAHR Chairman.
The authority has conducted a study and prepared a comprehensive plan for Emiratisation in the ministries and federal bodies for the period 2011 to 2013, he said.
The statement was made during a workshop organised by the FAHR on the mechanisms and plan for Emiratisation in the federal sector from 2011 to 2013.
The workshop was attended by ministry undersecretaries and officials from 55 federal bodies.
Al Quttami called on the bodies concerned to set up teams to follow up on the Emiratisation plans and their implementation, as well as the Al Masar programme, which was launched for high school graduates and aims to attract Emiratis to technical specialisations.
He also emphasised coordination with the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia) to employ Emiratis in available positions, and to coordinate with higher education institutes to meet the needs of bodies working in specialised fields.
Study in federal bodies
Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar, Director General of FAHR, said the Ministerial Services Council's decision to launch the programme was made following a study on Emiratisation in federal bodies by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.
He added that based on the study, the council had given the authority the responsibility of implementing the plan and prioritising Emiratisation in federal bodies, in which the Emiratisation rate does not exceed 60 per cent.
The study showed that by the end of 2010, Emiratisation rate in federal bodies and ministries reached 67 per cent, and is estimated to record a seven per cent increase to reach 74 per cent in 2013.
