Male staff employed by public sector offices in the Dubai government who have newborns will be eligible for paid three-day leave.

Dubai: Male staff employed by public sector offices in the Dubai government who have newborns will be eligible for paid three-day leave.
This was stipulated in law No. 27 on human resources management in the Dubai government, issued by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
According to the law, national and expatriate employees should receive equal salaries and allowances except for a special allowance for nationals.
The law also stipulates that pregnant employees are entitled to a 60-day paid maternity leave and up to 100 days of unpaid leave, while male employees who have newborns are eligible for three days of paid leave.
Corruption, bribes and receipt of precious gifts as well as conflict of interest between departments and abuse of power are also tackled by the law.
Human resource departments must carry out their duties in collaboration with the Human Resources Committee, which will be formed by a resolution to be issued by the Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.

The law sets the committee's tasks, including reviewing department proposals and complaints relating to human resources, conducting studies and research, monitoring and evaluating benchmarks and lessons learned from international best practices in similar fields.
The law assigned the Dubai Executive Council to issue any regulations that help human resources development in public departments, including planning, recruitment, training and performance management.
