DUBAI:  A priest is looking for a regular job in Dubai after falling on hard times. And if he doesn't find openings in marketing, management or production, he is even ready to work as a driver.

Drawn by boom

Pastor Richard R. Kayumba, a preacher for the Assemblies of God Pentecostal denomination, came to Dubai in 2008. Hoping to capitalise on the construction boom in the emirate, he set up a company called The Sufficient Grace Cleaning Services.

But the cleaning company rarely got sufficient orders to keep it going. When it wiped away almost all of his savings, Pastor Kayumba placed a job advertisement in a local paper.

"My job is to preach, all right, but preaching doesn't mean that you have to stand behind a pulpit. You can preach from anywhere. In any case, what's wrong in a priest wanting to work?" he reasoned.

A native of Swaziland, Pastor Kayumba said he's seeking employment because he wants to earn money and help his continent.
