Al Ain career fair to offer opportunities to Emiratis

Three-day fair to help education providers seeking students, and leading employers searching for talented UAE nationals

Al Ain: Emirati jobseekers and students will be presented with a host of opportunities at the Al Ain Education and Career Fair opening here on Monday.

The three-day fair will be held at Al Ain Convention Centre (formally known as Al Khabisi Wedding Celebration Hall) from April 30 to May 2 under the patronage of Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

It will be a dual platform, said the organisers, for education providers seeking students, and leading employers searching for talented UAE nationals in an effort to fulfill their Emiratisation quotas.

Among the noted employers are the UAE Presidential Guard, Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Etihad Rail, Etisalat, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, Mubadala Aerospace, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Abu Dhabi Farmers Services Centre, and General Holding Corporation, the UAE's largest industrial conglomerate, whose companies include Emirates Steel, Arkan, Agthia and the National Petroleum Construction Company.

The organisers also expect the visit from the thousands of Emirati students exploring higher education opportunities can expect to meet several major universities and training institutions from across the UAE and further afield from as far away as UK, Turkey, India and USA.

The educational organisation participating in the fair include the University of Wollongong in Dubai, Kaplan University USA, Heriot-Watt University Dubai, University of Lincoln UK and RIT Dubai, along with UAE private universities such as University of Jazeera, Al Hosn University, University of Sharjah, and Al Ghurair University.

With more than 7,000 visitors attending the fair last year 2011, Al Ain Education and Career Fair will return this year with regular show features, psychometric assessment centre, and an advice clinic, Qualified Emirati counsellors will be on hand to provide advice and guidance to visitors on the career paths most suitable for them.
