DUBAI Emaar is installing cameras and number plate detectors in Emirates Living to beef up security.

The move comes after a long delay as residents had been asking for a security overhaul for quite some time now.
Their prayers were answered recently when work began on the installation of CCTV and Automated Access Control Systems to screen vehicles entering and exiting the community.

“Every community has a separate visitor’s entrance. However, many use the residents’ access to as there is currently no system to check vehicle details. Installing cameras and access systems will help monitor vehicles entering the communities,” said Pooja Deepak, a Lakes resident.

Great news

A random check by XPRESS showed work was on in full swing at The Lakes, Springs and Meadows.

“This is great news. Finally, Emaar is paying heed to our concern. What bothers me, though, is that there has been no communication from the developer on the matter. We have noticed cameras coming up at community entrances but Emaar is yet to notify us about the registration of vehicles. The developer must check every villa and penalise residents without authorised access cards,” added Pooja.

Residents are required to submit their Emirates ID or passport copy to Emaar’s security offices in order to register their cars.

Homeowners have to submit a copy of their title deed and tenants their tenancy contract copy to get vehicle permits. Residents will be charged between Dh200 and 300 for each permit.

Service fee defaulters will not be given entry access. Access permits will be according to the number of car ports in villas.
