Sharjah: A fire broke out at a tyre warehouse in Sharjah on Sunday night, causing huge losses.

No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire is not known.

Firefighters from Sharjah Civil Defence, along with personnel from Ajman and Dubai Civil Defences, battled the flames for over six hours and prevented it from spreading to nearby premises.

Brigadier Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Sharjah Civil Defence Department, told Gulf News that the fire broke out in warehouse in industrial area No.13 at 11pm.

Residents have reported seeing thick black plumes of smoke still billowing from the gutted warehouse on Monday morning. The cooling operation was still going on. Police investigations are on.
