Dubai: Three people died swimming off the UAE coastline in Dubai and Ajman on Friday prompting warnings for beachgoers to pay heed to sea condition advisories that could be fatal.

In an incident off Jumeirah Beach in Dubai, two Indian men drowned on Friday night, police said.

Police confirmed that one of the victim’s bodies was found on Friday night while the other body was found on Saturday morning.

Police said three men were swimming on the beach when they ran into difficulty. Two of the men disappeared beneath the waves but a third swimmer was rescued by police and he is reported to be in good condition despite the harrowing night.

The three men were swimming in a restricted area, said police, and worked for a company in Dubai.

In Ajman, meanwhile, a 25-year-old Jordanian man drowned on Friday morning in Gulf waters.

The victim identified is as M.H.S.

Lieutenant Salem Al Zaabi, Director of Customer Service at Ajman Civil Defence, told Gulf News they received a call from a beachgoer about the accident around 8am.

The caller told the police and rescue team that he saw a man struggling in waters not far off the Ajman beach. By the time the victim was located, he had drowned.

Ajman Civil Defence personnel recovered the body and moved it to Khalifa hospital.

Al Zaabi urged beachgoers to check conditions are safe before entering the water.

They should also look out for warning flags placed on beaches and avoid swimming too far from the shore, he said.
