Sharjah: Two fires broke out in separate locations in Sharjah on Monday morning requiring Sharjah Defence to use multiple resources to douse the fires.

Brigadier Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence, told Gulf News that the first incident took place when a diesel tanker in Al Hamriyah Free Zone caught fire while filling petroleum products.

The tanker belongs to a private company working in Al Hamriyah Free Zone. Firefighters from Al Hamriyah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain Civil Defence worked jointly and contained the fire quickly, said Al Suwaidi, and prevented it from t spreading to other premises in the area.

A second fire erupted in a wood and timber warehouse in the Industrial Area at 10.10am.

Firefighters from Dubai and Sharjah cooperated to put out the fire and were able to stop it within a short time, said Al Suwaidi.

There was no damage estimate available at press time.

Al Suwaidi, who inspected the fire scenes, praised the efforts of firefighters and noted that no human injuries were reported in the two fires.
