Ras Al Khaimah: Seven people were hospitalised with serious injuries when their vehicles crashed into each other on Al Fahlain main road.

The injured include five Emiratis (15-24 years) and two Asians (both 25 years). They were rushed in ambulances to Saqr Hospital where at least four of them were admitted to the ICU.

Colonel Nasser Muraddad, who heads the RAK Traffic and Licensing Department said the five Emiratis were in their car on a lane on the main road and were shocked to see by a heavy vehicle moving in from a side road to the main street. The driver of the heavy vehicle was also surprised to see the car the Emiratis were traveling in and tried to avoid hitting it. However, the car crashed into the middle section of the vehicle.

Muraddad said a 15-year-old Emirati was stuck in the destroyed car and as the rescuers could not take him out, the civil defence personnel had to use hydraulic cutters. The medics on the scene said he was not dead and all the wounded people were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
