Man killed as vehicle hits camel in Sharjah

Authorities ordered to build fence to prevent animals from crossing road

Sharjah: A 28-year-old man died yesterday morning after his vehicle knocked down a camel on Maleha Road.

The Emirati victim was driving from Kalba to Sharjah city during his regular commute to work at 5.30am, an official from Sharjah Police explained.

The camel was also killed in the accident.

The victim's vehicle immediately caught fire and the driver died on the spot.

Following the accident, His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, ordered Sharjah Municipality and the Directorate of Public Works to erect a fence with a metallic barrier along Maleha Road to prevent camels and other animals from crossing the road.
