Sharjah: In an apparent suicide bid, an Indian man fell to his death from the eighth floor window of a building on Monday morning, Gulf News has learnt.

The incident happened at the Al Diyafah Medical Centre building near the Al Nahda park.

According to sources close to the victim, the man committed suicide over some personal problems. However, Sharjah Police is yet to confirm this as a case of suicide as investigations are still ongoing.

The man, in his early 20s, hailed from Kannur in Kerala in India, and was working for a private firm.

“His body was spotted lying in a pool of blood around 7:30am. People said he jumped out of the window. He died immediately,” the building watchman said.

A resident of the building said that the one-bedroom apartment where the victim lived belonged to his boss. “The boss was living here with his family. After his wife went to India for a few months for her delivery, a few people, including the victim, were living with him.”

The victim had been living in the apartment for about two months now, he said.

“We knew him. He used to come here often to buy groceries,” a nearby shopkeeper said, still in disbelief.

The watchman said that police took the victim’s roommates for interrogation.
