Hyderabad police continue search for missing Emirati man

47-year-old went missing nine days ago after going for a walk

Hyderabad: Hyderabad city police has sounded an alert for an Emirati man who has been missing for the past nine days and despite all efforts cannot be traced.

Saleh Rashid Ali Salesh Al Abdouli, 47, left the house for a walk at around 9am on July 29 but did not return.

Police sub-inspector N Ram Babu, who is heading the investigation after receiving a complaint from Al Abdouli’s wife of Indian origin Imtiyaz Bano, said they had also alerted all hospitals in the city, keeping in mind the possibility that he might have met with an accident.

“We have circulated his photograph to all 60 police stations in the city and surrounding areas and also got it published in the local newspapers. But so far there has been no information. We have also recorded the statement of his wife and other family members," he told Gulf News.

Further compounding matters, Al Abdouli did not take his mobile phone. “If he had his mobile phone we could have traced his whereabouts," he said.

“We have registered a missing [persons] case but we are investigating the matter from all possible angles," said Ram Babu. However the photo provided to the police by the family was not of good quality as it was taken from a mobile phone. “If we get a good photograph, it will be helpful,” he said.

Al Abdouli was staying in Moghalnagar locality under Langar House police station limits where his in-laws and other relatives stay. According to the police Al Abdouli a retired policeman, married Bano, a Hyderabadi woman in 1992 and they have a son and six daughters.

Al Abdouli along with his family visit Hyderabad once a year and this year he arrived in the city on July 8 and was to stay in the city until September 7.

There was no possibility of his leaving the country as his passport was also at home. “We are not at all able to understand where he has gone. There is no trace of him. Mostly he would remain at home and used to go out only for morning walks. He would not visit even our other relatives," said a worried Bano who has also got leaflets with his photo distributed in the area. The family members have also checked all the hospitals.

She was afraid that he might have lost his way and was not able to find it as he did not know any language other than Arabic. But as the time was passing by, her anxiety was increasing and she was becoming doubtful whether this was the case.

Ram Babu said that he was not treating it as a kidnapping case because there has been no call to the family for any ransom.

“He was carrying Rs25,000 [Dh1,653] in Indian currency," Ram Babu said.
