Ras Al Khaimah: A two-year-old Asian girl died on Friday, drowning in the bathtub at her family house, police said.

An official at Ras Al Khaimah police told Gulf News that the Operation Control Room received a call at 9:30pm notifying them of the incident.

Police immediately rushed to the house in Al Ma’amurah area, but found the girl had already died.

Unsupervised

The girl was identified as K.Y.A, who was unsupervised while she was moving in the house and  entered the bathroom. She had turned on the water and climbed into the bathtub.

The bathtub filled with water and the girl had stayed in it until she died, official said.

Official said that the family missed their daughter and had looked for her all around the house.

They found the little girl under water, with water overflowing from the bathtub.

'Lungs filled with water'

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts to save her life, police said. “Her lungs were filled with water,“ the official said.

The girl was transferred to hospital and later her body was handed over to her family for burial, official said.

The police urged parents to ensure their children were supervised at all times to avoid such tragic incidents.
