Abu Dhabi: A truck loaded with iron rods crashed into a restaurant in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, killing four workers and injuring nine others.
The accident took place around 9:30am near Hamim Bridge on the Tareef-Abu Dhabi Road.
Initial investigations revealed that the accident took place due to the truck driver’s inattentiveness and loss of concentration, Colonel Hamad Adeel Al Shamsi, Director of Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols, said.
The driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and rammed into the restaurant, killing four Asians in the eatery, the official said.
The truck driver was seriously injured and the other victims sustained moderate to minor injuries, the official added.
