Abu Dhabi: Four people died while five siblings, including children from the same family, were injured during an accident that took place in Oman’s Al Buraimi area on Friday.

The Emiratis’ vehicle overturned, killing the family’s father, J.A.S., 62, his wife, M.S.S., 52, their son, R., 19, who was driving the vehicle, and their daughter, J., 22.

Meanwhile, the remaining passengers, M., 6, R., 11, A., 14, F., 17. and R.,21, suffered moderate and severe injuries and were all transferred to Al Buraimi Hospital in the country for treatment.

Colonel Hamad Nasser Al Beloushi, Director of External Roads at the Ministry of Interior, expressed his sincerest condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

In 2012, another Emirati family was involved in another fatal accident on the same road. The family lost nine of its members while travelling to Oman on holiday from Al Ain. They were originally travelling in three separate cars when they faced a smaller incident prior to this one, and had to leave one of their vehicles behind. A Saudi-registered trailer truck that was carrying power generators weighing half a tonne each, lost control on the road in the opposite direction and swerved towards the two cars, causing them to hit the metal barrier in an attempt to avoid colliding with the heavy vehicle.
