Dubai: A fire broke out at the Burjuman Business Centre on Sunday afternoon causing no injuries or damages but a cloud of smoke that could be seen from far.
According to Major Ali Al Mutawa, Director of the operations room of Civil Defence, the report about the fire was received at 4:10pm, and a team of fire fighters was dispatched.
It turned out to be a minor fire that broke out in the chimney of a coffee shop in the centre and was put off immediately without causing any injuries or damages.
A statement received from Burjuman said the fire was caused by a short circuit at 4:17pm in the exhaust vent of one of the cafes on Level 1 of the South wing, which resulted in some smoke emission at the site.
Mall visitors in the affected area were evacuated for their safety and to enable safety operations to be carried out quickly, the statement said.
Due to the efficient and quick action of the Civil Defense Police in conjunction with the BurJuman team, the situation was brought under control within minutes. The Level 1 of the South Wing is expected to be fully operational in a short while. All other areas of the mall continue to be fully operational, the statement said.
