Police say the 37-year-old victim was on his way to work
Sharjah: A 37-year-old man was killed on Tuesday after he was hit by a speeding vehicle. The victim was riding his bicycle in the area of Gara'en.
An official at Sharjah Police said the accident took place on Tuesday morning while the Pakistani victim was on his way to work, where he was employed by a construction company.
"The cyclist abided by the rules and was wearing his fluorescent jacket so that motorists could see him properly," said the official, adding that the Traffic and Licensing Department at Sharjah Police had recently enforced the rule in order to ensure the safety of cyclists in the emirate.
An Anjad patrol was dispatched immediately, to the scene of the accident, who then helped transfer the body to Kuwait Hospital.
Police as yet were unable to identify the motorist responsible.
