Abu Dhabi:A baby and her nanny are in a stable condition in hospital in the capital after they were involved in a car accident in the Al Selaa area near the Abu Dhabi land border with Saudi Arabia.

The two were members of a Qatari family who had been travelling along the road.

Both the baby, just over a month old, and the nanny, whose nationality was not identified, sustained serious injuries. They were airlifted by the Abu Dhabi Police Air Ambulance from Al Selaa Hospital in Qatar to Khalifa Hospital in Abu Dhabi for specialised treatment.

The Abu Dhabi police were on a routine patrol mission when the Operation Room informed them of the accident near Al Selaa Hospital. The helicopter immediately flew to the hospital where they were originally taken and transported them to Abu Dhabi. The baby and nanny are in stable condition.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
