Ajman: An 18-month-old girl was killed when her cousin accidentally ran over her outside the garage at the family’s home in Ajman’s Al Sawan area on Tuesday.
The Pakistani victim was reportedly playing near the vehicle — a Nissan Patrol — when her parents took her inside the house as they wanted to move the vehicle. However, she slipped back into the garage without their knowledge and stood near the vehicle. The cousin failed to see the child and ran over her. Incidentally, the child’s father was sitting beside the driver when the incident occurred.
The cousin realised what had happened after other family members began screaming.
The girl was rushed to Khalifa Hospital, but died shortly after being admitted.
Colonel Ali Saeed Al Matroushi, director-general of police operations, said the incident was unintentional, adding that police will not blame the family as such incidents put them through severe trauma as it is.
Al Madina Police station is investigating the incident.
