Dubai: The Hatta area is at the centre of Dubai Municipality’s efforts to make Dubai a tourist-friendly destination.

Prominent among the projects is the Hatta market and heritage inn being developed at a cost of Dh29 million. Located on the main road between Hatta and Oman, it covers ab area of 92,500 square feet.

It comprises of a ground and first-floor building, with 46 commercial shops and three main restaurants with a direct view of the valley.The building also contains prayer rooms, administrative rooms for the management of the market and other service areas. The first floor includes a multi-purpose hall and 32 hotel rooms with two hotel suites.

Half the rooms overlook the valley through open terraces.

The project has also provided car parks for 100 vehicles as well as tourist bus parks.

The municipality is using environmentally-friendly building materials and providing wide green areas throughout the premises.

Hussain Lootah, director-general of Dubai Municipality, inspected projects being implemented in the area.

Another project is the mountain bicycle racetrack course aimed at developing facilities for recreation.

A public park is also being built in the area at a cost of Dh15 million. It is located near the Hatta mountains.
