Dubai: Design Days Dubai will be held from March 18-21 as part of Art Week Dubai 2013. In its second edition, Design Days Dubai is the only design fair in the Middle East and South Asia, which brings the most exclusive selection of purchasable, limited-edition designs to the region.

Cyril Zammit, director of Design Days Dubai, said that last year’s purchases where estimated at $3.5 million (Dh12.85 million). He added that “design is a very safe investment’ as they never lost value.

He added that this is the first fair ever which will feature works from art fairs from six different continents. There will be 29 galleries, nine of which are from the Middle East. The prices, he said will range between $5,000-500,000.

There will also be live design performances and installations at Design Days, which will be held at Downtown Dubai.

Zammit said that there will also be tour guides on request for people who wish to be walked through the exhibition.

An interesting and unique sight at Design Days will be a wall of 260 clocks at the entrance of the show, Zammit said. The clocks, programmed in such a way that the hands would spell out words, will serve as an announcement board. The exhibit owes itself to Swiss design.
