Ajman: Ajman police arrested four men Wednesday accused of stealing from more than 19 stores.

The four men allegedly struck at 15 outlets in Ajman and four in other emirates stealing goods worth Dh230,000.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Saif Al Matroushi, Director of Ajman Police Criminal Investigation Department, told Gulf News police arrested the men after acting on complaints from shop owners.

A probe into the thefts then led officers to the suspects’ homes where they were arrested.

The accused, understood to be from Arab nationalities and aged between 20-24, have confessed to the thefts, police said.

CID officers said they inspected the apartment and car of one of the suspects where they allegedly found a large quantity of mobile phones, laptops, computers and electrical appliances worth Dh230.000.

The four suspects have been referred to the Attorney-General to complete legal procedures.

Lieutenant Colonel Al Matroushi urged shopkeepers to secure their stores by installing alarm systems and locking doors properly.

He also warned against leaving large sums of money inside shops.
