Exposed wires in residential areas are a safety hazard, according to Gulf News reader Waheeda Naeem. She said: "It leaves the public in a very dire situation." Image Credit: Waheeda Naeem/Gulf News Reader

The Satwa area of Dubai is a very famous haunt for tourists and residents alike. One indeed expects this busy place to be well maintained, but recently, I was appalled to find an electric box — that too of a great size — left open and unguarded.

This box was not in a forgotten alley or an uninhabited area, but actually in front of a very popular store, on the main street.

I strongly feel that this matter should be immediately attended to, since the exposed cables could pose a safety hazard to any unsuspecting resident.

With the wires exposed, it leaves the public in a very dire situation.

Firstly, due to the ongoing winter season, rainfall has become common nowadays and it could short circuit the electrical supply.

Moreover, children who usually cycle on such streets could become victims of an electric shock or any other related accident.

I would therefore request the concerned authorities to take immediate action, in order to solve this problem, and look forward to a safe and secure Satwa.
