When Gulf News reader Jamal Abdul Rashid took exit 119 to visit camping areas in the desert, off Ras Al Khaimah, he did not expect to see a herd of camels eating paper and plastic. He said: "An abandoned construction site had all sorts of material just lying on the ground, unattended."
Although, the resort project in the area is almost complete, the construction equipment has not been removed or discarded appropriately. Abdul Rashid suggested "simple solutions" for preventing camels from ingesting and choking on such materials. "Either the entire area could be cordoned off until the materials are cleared, or a caretaker could be employed to ensure the camels do not eat the trash."
