Dubai

Our beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback went missing from her home on March 1. Nala, the five-year-old female, has a beautiful temperament and she is so friendly.

We live in the Al Barsha area, in Dubai, and are in the process of moving homes. The moving company sent in their people, who were packing up the furniture to load it into their trucks. As this was happening, Nala got stressed out. She was probably under the impression that we were abandoning her.

While the men were working in the house, the door had been left open. In a state of disarray, Nala ran out of the house and disappeared. We looked for her in our area, but she was nowhere to be found. We then made posters and circulated them through social media and email. There have been a lot of reported sightings of her in different areas around ours, such as Al Barsha 2, near the Saudi German Hospital in Al Barsha 3 and Al Manara.

A few days ago, I got a call from someone saying they had spotted Nala in the Dubai Marina area. I personally went there and looked all over. I even asked the people who were walking in the area if they had spotted her. But, she seemed to have moved on. In an attempt to find her home, she seems to be covering a lot of ground and running in circles. It pains me to think what she must be going through. It seems like I have lost a daughter. Nala came into our home around the same time as my daughter was born and a lot of children in the area used to come over to play with her.

The dog owning community has been extremely helpful. They even organised a walk in Al Barsha area so as to find her. I keep getting calls from people saying they’ve spotted her, which is what gives me hope. But, there was also a call that informed me that someone had spotted her lying near the hospital. However, we don’t know if she was unconscious or had been moved, because when we got there, she was gone.

We’ve checked at the animal market in Sharjah, the veterinary clinics in the area and the Municipality. She could be anywhere right now and we are desperate to find her. She is an extremely gentle dog. But, due to her circumstances, she may be afraid. If anyone does spot her, I would request them to approach her slowly so as not to scare her off. I would appreciate it if anyone who spots her contacts me immediately. I can be reached at 050 5596911.
