Dubai

The joy of watching your pet grow and prosper, is perhaps only equalled by the very first moment you meet him or her. For a lot of UAE residents, that happens during adoption day — regularly hosted by animal rescue groups around the country.

There are hundreds of cats and dogs out there, waiting for shelter.

Gulf News decided to visit them, and follow the journey of a pair of fur balls as they finally find the home they have been waiting for. The first part of the pet adoption series follows a family attending a cat adoption day and falling in love with a grey kitten called Mozart. We’ll see how Mozart is doing in his new home, in the second part of the series. Look out for more videos, as we trace the journey of a puppy, and his life with his new family.

Furry friend

Pets are known to be great stress-busters. So why not adopt a cat? Cats can relieve you of the daily stress faced at work; when you arrive home, they’re there, waiting patiently for you with a loving face. Just take a look at their calm and innocent expression, and suddenly all your worries will whisk away.

So if you are looking for a perfect feline, the Bin Kitty Collective (BKC) can help you out. They host a cat adoption day at the Dubai Garden Centre, with the help of the British Veterinary Hospital, every now and then.

There are a lot of stray and abandoned kittens and cats waiting to be taken away.

Kylie Joy Mohseni, volunteer at the BKC, told Gulf News: “We are helping cats and kittens find a new, loving home. There are a lot of benefits of having cats; they bring harmony and joy in your home.”

Mozart the cat is now in good hands, with the loving family of Luther and Adrianna McDonald. As expatriates from the UK, the McDonald’s promised they won’t abandon Mozart.

Adrianna said: “Mozart is now a part of our family. We will bring him home to the UK in future.”
