Abu Dhabi : The Advisory Committee of Statistics Centre — Abu Dhabi (SCAD) recently announced its strategy implementation plan for 2010, explored ways of supporting communication with data providers, and listened to suggestions.

SCAD, which held a meeting on Thursday, plans to issue 629 indicators in 2010, adding that the number of statistical bulletins and publications had recently increased significantly.

The meeting also looked into the statistical standards adopted by the Centre, which conform to the highest international standards in the service of decision-makers, the business sector, investors, scholars and all segments of society. The participants agreed to provide SCAD with the suggestions and statistical needs of their respective departments during July so that the relevant action plan can be started in September 2010.

The committee consists of representatives of all the strategic partners of the Centre and includes most of the government departments and local authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, with which SCAD is linked through cooperation ties meant to serve the needs of the key sectors in the emirate.

The meeting was chaired by Butti Ahmad Mohammad Bin Butti Al Qubaisi, Director General of SCAD, and attended by other officials.

SCAD had earlier launched its five-year strategy 2009 to 2013. Statistical expert Michael Hartman reviewed Centre's efforts and achievements in the project, one of the largest and most significant statistical operations sponsored by the statistical agencies in both developing and developed countries.
