  • Gulf News reader Angelique Yakupova urges authorities to add a speed breaker or traffic light near a busy exit in Dubai. She said: "The addition may save many lives."

I am trying to call the attention of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to set up an additional traffic light or speed breaker in the vicinity of a recently completed bridge and Metro station in Dubai. This would help reduce or avoid accidents that are already occurring there.

When leaving the Greens and Al Barsha area, we find that the construction work at the exit which accesses Shaikh Zayed Road has finally been completed. On the way there is a busy petrol station. It is usually very crowded and is situated right before the newly opened Dubai Internet City Metro Station.

The problem occurs when entering and exiting this petrol station. There are three newly completed lanes serving motorists in this particular area. One of these three lanes is a fast lane parallel to Shaikh Zayed Road. It joins two others coming out of the Greens along the new flyover toward Media City. The petrol station is situated right at the point of intersection between the lanes that access the highway and a lane that serves as an exit to Al Barsha and Jebel Ali. I do understand that it takes time to finalise the last touches in newly built areas, but I beg the concerned authorities to look after this short length of road. It only needs a new speed breaker or traffic light approximately 20 metres before the entrance of the petrol station. The addition may save many lives.
