Placing plastic water bottles out under the scorching summer sun is not a good idea, according to Gulf News reader Boban Thomas. The compound bisophenol A, often found in reusable plastic containers, is known to leach into liquids, especially at higher temperatures. The community reporter said: “This scene can usually be seen outside grocery stores, everywhere. The municipality and mineral water companies should run awareness programmes for shop owners, discouraging them from keeping water bottles outside because of the hot season.”
