Muscat: Muscat public sector employees in Oman will get a nine-day holiday for Eid Al Fitr.

The announcement was made on Sunday by Sayyid Ali Bin Hamoud Bin Ali Al Busaidi, the Minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court, Chairman of the Civil Service Council.

Omani government employees do not have to work over the five-day week from September 11 to 15. The holidays are squeezed between the two weekends thus giving the public sector a nine-day break. Work will resume as usual in all government offices from September 18.

Meanwhile, private sector employees in Oman will get Eid holidays from September 11 to 14, with work resuming on September 15.
