Madrid: An illegal immigrant worker at a Spanish bakery is suing his employer after his severed arm was dumped in a bin following an accident with a mixer, his trade union representative said on Wednesday.

"It appears that while they were clearing up the mess, they dumped his arm all with the rest of the contents of the kneading machine in a normal rubbish bin," the union representative said.

The worker, a Bolivian according to news agency EFE, had been employed illegally at the bread factory for two years, earning 23 euros (Dh119) per day for a 12 hour shift, the union official said.

He was unable to recover his left arm, severed through the biceps.

"Somebody grabbed a van and drove him away, but it seems he arrived alone at the emergency room," the union representative added.
