Manila: President Benigno Aquino III and his girlfriend Shalani Soledad had reportedly called it quits after a two year relationship, a report said.

Philippine Daily Inquirer showbiz and style columnist Thelma Sioson-San Juan said the erstwhile couple had had ended the relationship two weeks ago during a dinner at a restaurant in suburban Quezon City where they had first dated.

The romance between the 50-year-old never-been-married president and the 30-year-old suburban Valenzuela City councilor had initially hit off well despite the two decades gap in their age.  In recent weeks however, there have been rumours that the flame in the relationship had already waned.

There were also stories, carried by radio reports, that Soledad is already seeing someone whose age is closer to hers, Valenzuela City Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian.

Aquino III, on the other hand, reportedly has a new "Apple of the Eye" in the person of his own stylist Liz Uy, who used to date hearththrob John Lloyd Cruz.

Uy advices the president on what to wear and is editor-at-large of the local style and fashion publication, Preview Magazine.

Whether the balding president and the pretty public official had amicably ended their relationship amicably continues to be the subject of speculations and internet blogs.

The palace for its part, said the president just like anyone, is entitled to his own private life.

The president is finding it increasingly difficult to keep the relationship given his busy schedule as the head of state.

Even before his break up with Soledad, Aquino was only manage to have short-lived relationships with this girlfriends.

He had been linked before to at least two television journalists.

Aquino is an only son to the late former president Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino and senator Benigno Aquino Jr.  He has four sisters, including popular actress-host Kris Aquino.

He is the country’s first bachelor president.
