Islamabad: Maham Malek, a young Pakistani woman from Namal Valley, Mianwali, secured the coveted top position during exams at one of Britain’s top universities, Durham Law School, beating over two hundred other students from across the world.

Maham is a former student of Frobel International Islamabad school, where she completed her A-Levels with flying colours, in addition to grabbing first place in English across the country.

She enrolled at Durham Law School, one of the top ten British Universities.

Dr Andy Hayward, Assistant Professor at Durham University, commended Maham on her success.

“Congratulation on your success Maham — it is such a great achievement and a testament to all the hard work you have put in to your studies,” Dr Hayward said.

Durham University also gave her prize money and several financial awards from other law chambers in England in recognition of her feat.

Maham said her ambition to become a barrister and to serve the country had driven her to study hard.

Durham Law School is a world leader in legal education and research and attracts around 17,500 students.

According to the information available on the university’s website, around 21 per cent of its student body is of non-UK origin, and with staff and students combined, around 150 countries and nationalities are represented.
