Islamabad: The kidnapped son of a provincial minister in Pakistan’s province of Balochistan was recovered Thursday, according to a report on the website of a national daily.

Asad Tareen, son of Balochistan’s local government minister Sardar Mustafa Khan Tareen, had been abducted in May.

Quoting family sources, the report said the abductee was recovered from an area on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

It was not clear whether Asad was recovered as a result of a security forces operation or after payment of ransom, the report said.

Earlier in March, Shahbaz Taseer, son of slain Punjab province governor Salmaan Taseer, was recovered after being held by kidnappers for over four years. He was found at a place Balochistan.

In May, former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s abducted son Ali Haider Gilani was rescued after three years in captivity from Afghanistan’s Ghazni province in a joint operation carried out by Afghan and US forces.

Awais Shah, son of Chief Justice of Karachi-based Sindh High Court was recovered in July in northwestern Khyber Pakthunkhwa province while he was being taken to Afghanistan by the kidnappers.
