ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Supreme Court (SC ) has summoned all the accused, including the owner of Axact company, in fake degree suo motu notice .

The Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar has remarked if there is truth in media report pertaining to fake degrees then no one will escape and if there is no truth therein then action will be taken against those who are launching the campaign.

He made these remarks while presiding over a 3-member bench while hearing on suo motu notice of Axact fake degrees Wednesday.

The Federal Investigation Agency Director General, Bashir Memon, appeared in the court and read out report. He said the documents were confiscated after sealing the offices.

The GIA DG told the court that a report found way to the media on May 15, 2015 that a professor holding fake degree was arrested in Peshawar.

He said the Axact with headquarters Karachi has 10 business units. One business unit pertains to Online education. Four cases have been registered against it. Trial is under way in a subordinate court at Karachi.

The CJP remarked: “I will not spare Dr Aamir Liaqat if he has obtained Axact degree.

Liaqat, who was sitting on front a seat said, “My degree is not from Axact.”

Later the court summoned all the accused persons including Shoaib Sheikh, owner of Axact.

The FIA DG told the court that 70 per cent of Axact’s revenue comes from its Online education unit.

Bashir Memon said websites of 330 US universities were developed while sitting in Karachi. The court summoned registrars of Islamabad High Court Sindh High Court and Karachi court and adjourned the hearing till Friday.
