Karachi: Pakistan’s opposition leader, in the lower house of the parliament, on Sunday called upon the government of Nawaz Sharif to find a way out of the Panama Leak issue so that political turmoil could be averted in the country.

Talking to media at his residence in Sukkur, Khurshid Shah said that the Panama Leak had become an international issue and it was not only a domestic matter.

Shah said that initially the family of the prime minister had denied ownership of any offshore company or assets but now incriminating evidence has been brought forth.

He said he was hopeful that the Prime Minister Sharif and his team would find a decent way out.

The opposition leader also said that if the issues were not settled in parliament, then the people would resolve the issue on the streets.

He added that the opposition did not want to exploit the situation; it wanted to resolve it in a transparent manner.

Shah said that the opposition desires political dialogue with the government.

He indicated that the terms of reference for the Panama Leaks reference would be framed within a couple of days as the parliamentary committee has been formed with consensus.

Sharif faced severe criticism from the opposition in the parliament after his two sons were named as owners of offshore companies and apartments.

The prime minister denied any anomaly behind those offshore companies amid the opposition’s calls to begin a judicial inquiry into the matter.

Last week, the Pakistani parliament formed a committee to chalk out terms of reference for the Panama scam after the chief justice of Pakistan rejected the constitution of a judicial committee.

Shah said that the committee would also welcome the proposals of the government over terms of reference for the probe. He said that all the members of ruling and opposition parties would ultimately face the terms of financial inquiries.
