Peshawar: Adviser to the Prime Minister Amir Muqam on Sunday alleged that Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has been working on an agenda to destabilise Pakistan.

He made the statement while addressing a news conference here at Peshawar Press Club. Muqam added PTI’s agenda is to destabilise the democratic process, and that it’s against the development and the economic prosperity of the country.

He said holding peaceful protests is the right of everyone but people witnessed otherwise during PTI’s attack on parliament and PTV building. He said Khan was well aware of his diminishing popularity due to his wrong policies and looming defeat in 2018 general election and he would see Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) (PML N) would win again in the next general election, with a greater majority.

He said PML N will foil every attempt to sabotage public mandates and create political instability in the country. “Like in the previous dharna [sit-in], Imran wants to create political instability and sabotage the public mandate to fulfil the agenda of the anti-state elements,” he added.

He said the PTI had failed in its earlier prolonged sit-in in Islamabad and Raiwind, which was merely aimed to create instability and hinder the process of development and acceleration of economic growth. But, he said, PML N agenda is to pull the country out from the crisis it is facing.

PML N, he said, initiated measures for development, elimination of unemployment and overcoming the growing energy crisis. He said it will foil any conspiracies against the country.

Khan is becoming the main player to implement the agenda of anti-state elements in the country, Muqam alleged. He said the government’s machinery is being used towards an anti-state agenda.

He said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the entire country rejected the call of sit-in by Khan.

He said ending the PTI protest in Islamabad peacefully is the victory of entire nation.

Muqam demanded the Speaker of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly step down as he failed to maintain impartiality and his neutral position.

Recounting the achievements of the PML N-led federal government, Muqam said that the security situation has much improved in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). He added foreign exchange reserves had done well in the past few years, and international monetary institutions and financial lenders appreciate the economic policies of the government.

Terming the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a game-changer, the PML N leader said CPEC will usher in further economic stability, job opportunities, and end darkness forever in the country. “Central Asian countries are also showing keen interest in the multibillion dollars CPEC,” he added.
