Patna: Two workers angry with the repeated rapes of their teenaged daughters killed the rapist and then walked to the nearest police station to surrender themselves with their weapons. The killed rapist was none other than the owner of a brick kiln who had employed the workers.

The incident took place at Manauri village in Saharsa district, some 200km east of Patna, on early Sunday.

In their statement to the police, the workmen said they had strongly objected to the continued sexual exploitation of their daughters aged between 12 and 14 by their employer but the later always tried to hush up the case by offering cash. They even reported the matter to the local villagers but they ignored leaving them with no option but to avenge his criminal act on their own.

According to them, their patience ran out on Saturday night when the 55-year-old brick kiln owner Mani Prasad Singh made abortive bid to rape their 12 year-old daughter before their own eye.

“Instantly, we overpowered him and chopped him to death with a sharp dagger,” the accused workers identified as Mohammad Sirajul and Prasenjit Barman told the local police. Both the workers are residents of West Bengal who had come to Bihar in search of jobs.

After committing the crime, the accused reached the nearest Sadar police station on foot and surrendered before the police with their weapons.

“They (workers) surrendered before us and confessed having killed the rapist. They also handed us the weapons which they had used to kill the man,” the local Saharsa district superintendent of police Pankaj Kumar Sinha told the media today. The police have arrested both the accused workers.
