Patna: A woman in Bihar bit a venomous snake to death shortly before she died from snake bite.
The bizarre incident took place at Shampur village under Kuchaikot police station in Gopalganj district on Saturday evening.
As per reports, Rajanti Devi, wife of Naresh Choube, was working at home when a deadly snake bit her.
Hearing her cries, the family members rushed to the spot and caught the snake.
Witnesses said soon after catching the reptile, the family members asked the woman to bite the snake which she did multiple times, wounding it badly and leading to its death.
The family members did it perhaps with the belief that it would lessen the impact of poison on the victim. But as her condition deteriorated, they rushed her to a local hospital along with the snake in a bag but the victim died soon thereafter.
Reports said soon after her death, the family returned home with the body of the victim, leaving the dead snake on the hospital table in the doctors’ chamber. Later, the hospital staff threw out the snake.
Last month, a man bitten by venomous snake had bit his wife as he wanted them to die together. Luckily, the woman was saved by the doctor but her spouse died. The incident took place in the Samastipur district of Bihar.
