New Delhi: It’s the case that’s gripping India. Here are the major highlights of the Sheena Bora murder case:

In 2008, Indrani Mukerjea took Sheena Bora to Mumbai where she admitted her to St. Xavier’s College.

Indrani introduced Sheena as her sister to her husband Peter Mukerjea.

After studying from St. Xavier’s College, Sheena Bora moved to the United States and was in a relationship with Rahul Mukerjea, son of Peter Mukerjea from his previous marriage.

In 2012, Sheena went missing and in these three years, no complaint regarding to her missing was filed in Mumbai or Guwahati where she earlier stayed.

In these three years, Peter also did not speak to Sheena.

Her Facebook account was defunct from December 2011.

Sheena’s brother Mikhail last met her in January 2012 in Guwahati, Assam, where she had gone to attend a wedding for 2-3 days. She then went back to Mumbai. The complex web of lies and deceit started to unravel after Mumbai Police arrested Indrani’s driver Shyam Manav Manohar Rai this month, who confessed that he and Indrani killed Sheena and disposed of the body.

In May 2012, Sheena’s body was found and sent to Kalina forensic lab for tests. However, the police could not identify the body at that time.

Following a tip-off, Sheena’s skeletal remains were recovered by police from Maharashtra’s Raigad district, 110km from Mumbai.

Police arrested Indrani on August 25. During interrogation, she revealed that Sheena was her daughter and not sister.

On August 26, police arrested businessman Sanjeev Khanna (50), Indrani’s former husband, in Kolkata for his alleged role in the murder of Sheena.

Mikhail claimed Thursday that Peter knew that he and Sheena were Indrani’s children.

In a fresh twist to the murder case, Mumbai Police is now probing how Sheena’s resignation letter to her employers was sent days after her death. Sheena’s resignation letter was sent in May 2012, while the police have confirmed that she was killed on April 24, 2012.
