Hyderabad: The winter session of Telangana Legislature which began on October 27 with government promising that it will continue for a record 50 days was adjourned sine die on Friday.

After the 16-day-long session during which the House had short discussions on 11 different issues and passed 11 bills, the Speaker S Madhusudhan Chary announced that the House was being adjourned leaving the opposition up in arms.

Coming down heavily on the decision to adjourn the House suddenly N Uttam Kumar Reddy of Congress said that the government was not sincere about the issues of public concern. “The government did not give satisfactory reply on a single issue during the winter session” he said. “The Chief Minister had said that the session will continue even longer than 50 days if necessary but it has now been adjourned abruptly”.

Another senior Congress MLA T Jeevan Reddy questioned whether the House was run by the Speaker or the Chief Minister.

Earlier on Thursday the Assembly passed “Telangana Official Languate amendment Bill 2017” according status of second official language to Urdu. As mark of its implementation and use of Urdu in the administration, the staff of the state Legislature immediately started providing the copies of answers in Urdu to mediapersons.
