Dubai: At a time where every penny sent to Kerala is significant, a nine-year-old girl from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu has won hearts on social media for her generosity.

The girl named Anupriya donated Rs9000 (Dh473.21) to the victims of the flood-stricken state of Kerala. According to a tweet that went viral, she had saved the money in the last four years to gift herself a bicycle.

The tweet became popular as people started praising the young philanthropist. Many called her an “angel with a heart of gold”.

Twitter user @JaiPrashath posted: “Wonderful example of humanity, compassion and empathy.”

And @leoabhilash123: “She has a heart of gold!”

@Grubzon added: “I have tears in my eyes. This little girl has more humanity than most grown up people in the world.”

A bicycle manufacturing company in India saw the tweet and was moved by the Anupriya’s gesture. In a tweet, they offered her a new cycle.

@Hero_Cycles posted: “Dear Anupriya, We appreciate your gesture to support humanity in the hour of need. You would get a brand new cycle from us...”

Twitter user @Ethirajans later posted a picture of Anupriya with her new bicycle.

Many like @Singh79Ak also praised Hero Cycles for their kindness. He posted: “Nice gesture from the angel and appreciate goodwill by Hero Cycles.”

Tweep @prashant_120894 emphasised on the need for financial help to rebuild the state of Kerala. He posted: “She gave all she had, no doubt in her patriotism. If we learn and contribute one per cent of our income no matter how big or small it is. It will matter. Please stand up together for Kerala.”
