Hyderabad: Police have taken six people into custody in connection with the suspected case of human sacrifice on the night of the lunar eclipse as investigations continue to establish the identity of the infant whose head was recovered from the roof of a house in Uppal area.

Those taken into custody on Saturday include three relatives of Rajasekhar, a cab driver from whose house terrace the head was recovered. Deputy Commissioner of Police Umamaheshwar Sharma said that there were suspicions that the three were involved in black rituals on the night of the lunar eclipse and performed the human sacrifice to attain magical powers.

The police took them into custody after evaluating CCTV camera footage in the area around Rajasekhar’s house.

“We still don’t know the identity of the baby or the motive behind the grisly crime”, Sharma said. The discovery of the head of the baby sent shockwaves in the Chilakanagar colony in Uppal.
