Mumbai: A Saudi woman travelling to Riyadh by Air India delivered a baby boy in a toilet at Mumbai international airport.

When the 20-year-old woman went into labour in the rest room, housekeeping worker Sweta Satpal immediately called Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) doctors who reached within minutes of the call and took over to manage a safe delivery. The baby was delivered at 1.56pm.

A MIAL spokesperson said the woman was using the lavatory when the baby pushed its head out but “the doctor assured the lady passenger and helped her to get up from the WC and to deliver the baby, making sure that the baby should not fall in the WC.”

Both mother and the baby are fine and were shifted to Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri.

The woman was travelling with her mother, brother and sister.
